Brandi’s Ministry
July 2009
“I commend unto you our sister Phoebe, a minister of the church ….” – Romans 16:1
As many of you already know either from hearing the announcement in church or seeing the news elsewhere in News of Grace, the Rev. Brandi Wolf Drake will be leaving Grace Church to take up a new call as an Associate Pastor of the Noroton Presbyterian Church in Darien, Connecticut. Pastor Brandi has been with us for over eleven years (a general rule of thumb is that most pastors don’t spend more than ten years in their first call). During this time, Brandi and her husband, Evan, and boys, Ethan and Miles, have become not only vital parts of our church but of all of our lives. God is calling them to a new ministry but we will miss them greatly.
Brandi’s ministry has meant so much to all of us. Her work with adult education, the 8:30 worship service and discipleship groups has had a major impact on Grace Church. In addition, her visiting, counseling, teaching and preaching has been a huge benefit to all of us. Brandi herself is a special gift. Her openness, caring, generosity and loving spirit has communicated the reality of Jesus Christ every day of her time here. Brandi has been a model for all of us of faith, prayer, dedication and dependence on the Lord Jesus Christ. Everything she has said and done has been for his glory and his glory alone. And on top of that she’s just so much fun to be with.
Last month was the thirty-eighth anniversary of my ordination to the ministry. During the course of that time (not all of it at Grace Church), I have had the special privilege of working with many outstanding Christian leaders. These have included long term missionaries, Bible scholars, theologians, seminary presidents, many exceptional pastors and even Billy Graham. I have valued each of them and learned much from all of them. However none of them surpasses the Rev. Brandi Wolf Drake.
We pray God’s continued blessing on her and her family as they continue to serve our Lord Jesus Christ.
