Pastor's Pulse

Especially Peter

March 2008

Jesus came.
He called the disciples,
especially Peter.

He healed the sick.
He went to their homes,
especially Peter’s.

They were in a boat.
The storm raged, the waves rose.
They were terrified,
especially Peter.

He calmed the storm.
He stilled the waves.
He spoke peace to all in the boat,
especially Peter.

He led them.
He taught them.
They called him Messiah and Lord,
especially Peter.

He took three disciples up the mountain.
He appeared with Moses and Elijah.
They saw him in his glory,
especially Peter.

He went to the garden to pray.
He prayed in agony.
But they were tired.
They fell asleep,
especially Peter.

The soldiers took him.
The disciples scattered.
They all denied him,
especially Peter.

Jesus was crucified.
He descended to the dead.
The disciples lost hope,
especially Peter.

The tomb was empty.
The women were astonished.
The angel said, “Go and tell his disciples,
He is risen!
Go and tell them all,
especially Peter.”

They proclaimed his resurrection
To everyone, everywhere.
They could not be silenced.
They had no fear,
especially Peter.

Risen Lord Jesus,
Grant me
the power of your grace,
to serve you
as the disciples served,
especially Peter.
