Sermon Text: Exodus 15:19-21
Sermon Theme
Miriam’s song is one of the oldest passages in scripture. It tells of how Miriam, the sister of Moses, a prophet in her own right, leads a grand celebration of the power of God. The occasion? God’s deliverance of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. In our own country today — July 4 — we also celebrate liberty, the cry for freedom which was made official in the Declaration of Independence in 1776. As Christians, it’s helpful to pause today and consider what the fight for freedom really means for those in Christ, and be reminded of by whose hand we shall see the ultimate victory over all evil.
